Jim Boland ’74 Donor Story

Jim Boland ’74 Encourages Legacy Giving to Build Endowment

We need to build a dynamic endowment to ensure Prep is accessible to future generations. I want to see Prep available to deserving students. We should never allow tuition to be an insurmountable obstacle to attend Prep.

Estate gifts make possible a learning environment that really changes the course of one’s early education. I’m reminded of one of my teachers at Prep—Ed Joyce. Mr. Joyce was a devoted teacher who actually taught generations from the same family at Prep. Mr. Joyce’s estate was essentially a gift to Prep. An amazing example of a total commitment to Prep.

Family Legacy of Service and Support Spans Nearly a Century

The Graham and Gunlocke families’ legacy at Georgetown Prep spans nearly a century starting with Howard W. Gunlocke ’29 and Robert C. Graham, Jr. ’32. Beeb ’65 and Bonnie (Gunlocke) Graham cherish this legacy and have kept it going with their son, Brett '92, Georgetown Prep Director of Admissions. Beeb and Bonnie have demonstrated their loyalty and dedication to Prep through their consistent and generous support.

Robert C. Graham III “Beeb,” son of Robert C. Graham Jr. GP ’32, graduated from Georgetown Prep in 1965 and continued his education at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. During that time, he was a member of the Navy ROTC program and was commissioned an Officer in the United States Navy upon graduation. He served on both the USS Charles Berry DE 1035 and the USS Worden DLG 18 as the damage control assistant and is a decorated Vietnam veteran.

Bonnie Gunlocke Graham, daughter of Howard W. Gunlocke ’29 and sister of Bill Gunlocke ’65, attended the Kenwood Academy of the Sacred Heart and continued her education at Newton College of the Sacred Heart.

Beeb and Bonnie married in 1971. They reside in Washington, Indiana, and have four children and eight grandchildren. Beeb worked in the family agricultural business as the president and general manager of Graham Cheese Corp.

Both Bonnie and Beeb have been involved on the boards of various professional, parish, school, civic, and nonprofit work. In particular, Bonnie served as a trustee on the Board at Georgetown Prep and as a member of the School’s recent capital campaign executive committee For the Greater Glory, Prep’s Legacy Campaign.
